Media Release: 2009 Sydney Chamber Music Festival for the Voice

MasterclassAfter a successful inaugural 2008 Festival, the Sydney Chamber Music Festival will be held again as part of the Manly Arts Festival. This year the SCMF concerts will be over two days and showcases the exceptional talent of leading international and Australian artists in chamber music and composition.

The 2009 Sydney Chamber Music Festival will take place on Saturday 19 and Sunday 20 September with concerts, pre-concert talks and master classes on both days.

This year, the Sydney Chamber Music Festival focuses on the voice and will present two beautiful chamber music evenings featuring the gorgeous Australian soprano Taryn Fiebig, as well as the internationally acclaimed Israeli harpsichord and early music specialist, Shalev Ad-El.

Artistic Director flutist Bridget Bolliger put again an outstanding music program together. With a night of baroque delight with music by J.S Bach, Telemann and Scarlatti on the Saturday evening concert and the Sunday evening concert will embrace chamber music by Rossini, Mozart and Schubert, as well as something new by Australian composers Iain Grandage and Lyle Chan.

The Master classes and Concerts take place at the:

Manly Art Gallery and Museum and the Star of the Sea Theatre at Stella Maris College, Manly on Saturday the 19th of September and Sunday the 20th September.

Master classes are free to the public. Pre-concert talks by Shalev Ad-El and Iain Grandage.

The SCMF continues to cement itself as a major music event in the cultural calendar of Sydney and plans to deliver a stunning musical event for the people of, and visitors to, Manly in September.

The Sydney Chamber Music Festival aims to become a leading institution in Sydney's cultural community by: offering a new performance platform for dedicated chamber musicians, principally by Australian artists, providing a different instrumental focus each year to cover the repertoire from renowned works to the lesser known, and to inspire and promote new compositions by Australian composers.
