Salon of Music
2011 Sydney Chamber Music Festival kicks off on 10 September as part of the Manly Arts Festival. A key event in the Manly Arts Festival, the fourth annual Sydney Chamber Music Festival is a much-anticipated music event in the cultural calendar of Sydney and takes place over the weekend of 10th and 11th September at the Manly Art Gallery and Museum.
Three unforgettable concerts
High lights include the opening concert with ABC Presenter and Conductor Guy Noble, hosting a night of Parisian extravagance with soprano Nadia Piave and flautist Bridget Bolliger titled ‘Rue de l’Odeon’, an entertaining night in a Parisian Art Salon – a re-creation of the flair and flavour of the old salons of Paris.
A cosy free Sunday afternoon concert with music by one of Australia’s most popular composers Elena Kats-Chernin is the centrepiece of the Acacia Ensemble performance.
At the Sunday night concert, titled ‘Then Gently the World began anew’, Verna Lee Brown, Tobias Breider and Bridget Bolliger perform works for flute, viola and harp including Debussy and Faure.
