Footprint is a poem in cardboard, composed as a homage to our land.
This land, which has been walked on for millennia, is our most impressive sculpture, our forests are living cathedrals. It is a work designed for shadow puppetry, where the use of light is intrinsic to the visual narrative.
This intimate piece of theatre was originally created as a thank you performance for those hosting us in our research into Puppet Centre’s around the world. It has also played at an avant garde puppet festival in Germany and in an off Broadway theatre in New York.

“We all love our pets and admire the beauty of animals in the wild, but what of the animals that never were,that might have been, the animals who live in the corners of our imaginations?
Cryptozoologica takes young children on an interactive adventure, where they encounter bizarre and wonderful animals through music and story in the world premiere of Jim Coyle’s work.

Vladimir Gorbach | guitar

Internationally acclaimed guitarist Vladimir Gorbach has captivated audiences across Europe, the United States, Japan and his native country of Russia.

His international success began with the Yehudi Menuhin Foundation “Live Music Now” artist outreach program in Germany. He then went on to win many international guitar competitions and prizes in Spain, Italy, Germany, Portugal, Greece and the USA alongside performing concert tours throughout Europe, North and South America. He had appearances in some of the prestigious venues like Carnegie Hall in New York, Tchaikovsky Hall in Moscow, Bunka Kaikan in Tokyo and Laeizshalle in Hamburg.

Vladimir has published a book of solo guitar arrangements of the Renaissance lute music with Mel Bay Publications (USA) and recorded for the largest recording label Naxos.

Vladimir is a senior lecturer in guitar at The University of Sydney, Sydney Conservatorium of Music.


Bridget Bolliger | flute

Australian-Swiss flautist Bridget Bolliger made her solo début with the Sydney Symphony performing Ibert’s Flute Concerto at the age of 15. She relocated to Switzerland for her tertiary studies graduating with a Masters Degree in
Performance from the Basel Music Academy under Professor Peter-Lukas Graf. Bridget then embarked upon a busy and varied career in Europe and South America appearing as soloist and chamber musician with many leading international orchestras and ensembles.

Her countless performances of Mozart’s Flute and Harp Concerto have involved collaborations with some of the world’s most renowned harpists – including Marielle Norman and Elena Zaniboni. She has held Principal Flute positions with the St Gallen Symphony Orchestra and the Sao Paulo Symphony. She has appeared as guest Principal Flute and soloist with the Basel Symphony, Lugano Chamber Orchestra, Philharmonia Zürich, Australian Opera and Ballet Orchestra, and Queensland Symphony Orchestra.

Upon her return to Sydney in 2004, Bridget became a passionate advocate of Australian music and frequently performed at the Huntington Estate Music Festival and the Australian Festival of Chamber Music. She was the founding Director of the New Sydney Wind Quintet, spanning over a decade performing countless concerts supported by Musica Viva. She has been the Founding Artistic Director of the Sydney Chamber Music Festival since 2008.

In 2014, Bridget formed a key musical partnership with pianist Andrew West; in 2016, they gavetheir début recital in the Utzon Room, Sydney Opera House, and collaborated on Bridget’s latest album, Timeless, released by Austrian Gramophone. Her earlier recordings received unanimous acclaim from celebrated music journals such as Gramophone, BBC Music Magazine, and Limelight Magazine. These recordings include Quintopia, The Laughing Moon (by Ross Edwards) and Dancing Shadows (the complete music for flute and piano by Miriam Hyde, released by Cala Records).

Bridget is a dedicated flute teacher, has given masterclasses in universities in NSW and Victoria,
and maintains an international profile through her teaching work around the world on

The Sydney Puppet Theatre

Steve Coupe and Sue Wallace are co-artistic directors of The Sydney Puppet Theatre founded in 1984.

We moved to the Southern Highlands, regional NSW, where we built a puppet making and rehearsal studio. We create what we call Theatre of Delight, principally for the family audience incorporating puppetry, acting, music and dance in our shows.

We design workshops for all ages and abilities. We have also created puppetry performances and workshops for various clients the Museum of Contemporary Art, the ABC, the Powerhouse Museum and Discovery Centre, Casula Powerhouse Arts Centre, the Roads and Transport Authority, Sydney Water, the NSW Fire Department, the Australian Museum, National Parks and Wildlife and Australia’s Wonderland. We have taught puppetry at the University of NSW and have an ongoing association with the Enmore Design College of TAFE.

Most recently (August 2017) we were commissioned by Nautanki Theatre to create and perform shadow theatre in Jungle Book at Riverside Theatre.

We are currently company in residence at Imagin Arta, the Australian Puppet Centre in Sutton Forest NSW, performing every Sunday and organising puppetry workshops and events.


Jim Coyle | composer

Jim Coyle is a Sydney-based composer and music educator.

He has worked with some of Australia’s finest musicians as well as composing works for children and young people to perform. Jim is also in demand as a speaker, leading professional learning for music teachers and delivering pre-concert talks for Sydney Symphony Orchestra.

He also lectures part-time at Sydney Conservatorium of Music.


Karina Moss-Hollands | violin

Karina Moss-Hollands (violin) is a graduate of the Sydney Conservatorium of Music, and completed her Master of Music Degree in 1993, majoring in violin performance and teaching.

She is principal violinist and artistic director of Concertante Ensemble, the Central Coast’s own chamber orchestra, and Concertmaster of Symphony Central Coast. She also gives regular solo recitals and chamber music concerts there.

She is Head of Programme, Strings at the Central Coast Conservatorium and has been a violin teacher, chamber music coach and student string orchestra conductor there for the past 25 years.


Wendy Kong | violin

Wendy Kong began playing violin at the age of six and from the age of nine she studied with Charmian Gadd and Robin Wilson. She completed her Bachelor of Music degree at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music, studying with Ole Bohn as a recipient of the Frank Hammond Merit Scholarship.

She made her solo debut with the Sutherland Shire Symphony Orchestra at the age of 14 and has since performed with the Queensland Youth Orchestra, Balmain Sinfonia, ACO Academy and Penrith Symphony Orchestra. She has won many Australian competitions and scholarships, including the National Youth Concerto Competition and the Sydney Eisteddfod NSW Drs Orchestra Instrumental Scholarship.

She has appeared as concertmaster with several orchestras including the Sydney Conservatorium Symphony Orchestra and FEMUSC Symphony Orchestra in Brazil. As a chamber musician, in 2015 she participated in a chamber music festival in Italy, where her quartet performed in many venues throughout the country. Since the age of nine, she has appeared in recital in Australia and overseas, including broadcasts on Fine Music 102.5 (2MBS-FM) and ABC Classic FM. She has also participated in many masterclasses, most notably with Maxim Vengerov, Leon Spierer and Stefan Jackiw.

Wendy Kong joined the second violin section of the Sydney Symphony Orchestra in 2017.


Jacqui Cronin | viola

Violist, Jacqueline Cronin, has performed widely throughout Australia with numerous ensembles and orchestras, including the Sydney, Melbourne and Tasmanian Symphony Orchestras, Australian Chamber Orchestra, Opera Australia Orchestra and Orchestra Victoria. Most recently she has appeared as Guest Associate Principal Viola of the Opera Australia Orchestra. Jacqueline is also an active chamber musician, performing regularly in festivals across Australia, and with the Sydney Omega Ensemble, Sonus Piano Quartet and the Seraphim Trio.

Jacqueline holds a Bachelor of Music with distinction from the Canberra School of Music and a Masters of Music Performance from the University of Melbourne. In 1999 and 2000, Jacqueline held full scholarships at the Australian National Academy of Music, studying with various Australian and international violists.

In 2002, Jacqueline was a recipient of the Ian Potter Foundation which enabled further studies overseas. Jacqueline was also selected to take part in the Sydney Symphony Fellowship program.


Tim Nankervis | cello

Cellist, Timothy Nankervis, is a member of the Sydney Symphony Orchestra. He has won numerous awards for cello solo, and for chamber music as a member of the acclaimed Seraphim Trio. As an active chamber musician, Tim has performed extensively with Seraphim Trio nationally and internationally. He also performs regularly as a guest artist with various ensembles.

Tim has performed widely throughout Australia as a soloist, and has broadcast regularly for the ABC and MBS-FM radio stations across the country. He has performed the Beethoven Triple Concerto and Brahms Double Concerto with orchestras in Sydney and Queensland, and he has performed as soloist with Orchestra Victoria, playing Tchaikovsky’s Rococo Variations. Tim performs regularly with the Australian World Orchestra and the Australian Chamber Orchestra, and he has performed casually with the Melbourne, Adelaide and Tasmanian Symphony Orchestras.

He has taught cello and chamber music at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music, and tutors regularly for Sydney Youth Orchestra and Australian Youth Orchestra.

Tim completed his Bachelor of Music degree in Sydney with Lois Simpson and graduated from Melbourne University with a Masters of Music degree with Nelson Cooke. He has also studied at the Australian National Academy of Music in Melbourne, and in London with William Pleeth and Raphael Wallfisch.


James Julian | clarinet

James is an experienced performer who plays professionally as a frequent guest musician with the Sydney Symphony Orchestra, Opera Australia Orchestra and Auckland Philharmonia Orchestra, New Zealand.

Tim Brigden | percussion

Timothy Brigden has worked as a percussionist professionally since 2004, with groups such as the Sydney Symphony, Synergy Percussion, Sydney Chamber Opera, Queensland Symphony, Adelaide Symphony, Australian Ballet, Opera Australia Orchestra, the Auckland Philharmonic in New Zealand and the BBC Concert Orchestra, Royal Philharmonic and the Royal Opera House Orchestra in Britain.

Having returned to Australia in 2015 from a successful freelance career in London, Timothy has enjoyed a variety of performance opportunities. Equally at home in orchestral, musical theatre, or chamber ensemble setting, Timothy has performed with a wide range of artists in different genres, such as with Omar Faruk Tekbilek, River Guegarian, Korean drumming group “Noreum Machi” at the Oz Asia Festival in Adelaide and the Bellingen Festival with Synergy Percussion; Baroque Timpani with Australian Baroque Brass, Moffat Collective, and The Haydn Ensemble; as well as being the percussionist for touring musical theatre productions recently including Les Miserables, Wizard of Oz, Aladdin, Pippin & West Side Story. He is currently playing the Cameron Mackintosh/Disney production of Mary Poppins at Lyric Theatre, Sydney.

Salvatore Zofrea:
The Drawn Line

Drawing and the power of mark-making are the foundations of Salvatore Zofrea’s artistic practice. This special exhibition, which forms the backdrop to our 2022 SCMF series, explores the underlying narrative of the artist’s personal journey from Italy to the Australian landscape.

Celebrating Zofrea’s 75th year, this exhibition traces the development of the artist through drawing; from his early sketches to preliminary drawings for woodblock prints, psalm paintings, frescoes, stained glass windows and his most recent circle series of multi-panelled paintings. Presented in partnership with Orange Regional Gallery where it was shown in early 2022.
